Volunteers Wanted for 2024 Tax Season

Aug 25, 2023

VOLUNTEERS WANTED for the 2024 Tax Season

Community Volunteer Income Tax Program

Every year, Revenue Canada publishes the locations of local Tax Clinics, where people with low income can get their Income Tax Returns completed for free.  There are many locations across the country where organizations provide this free service.

Here in Hamilton, CENTRAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 65 Charlton Avenue West, will be setting up a new Community Volunteer Income Tax Clinic, to prepare 2023 Income Tax Returns, for Low-income Canadians, at the church, on TUESDAYS, from 10 to 12 noon, on March 12, 19, 26, and April 2, 9, 16, 23, 2024.  There will also be a second Tax Clinic at Central Presbyterian Church, on THURSDAYS, from 4 to 6 pm, on March 7, 14, 21, 28, and April 4, 11, 18, and 25, 2024.

We have a great new location for this free Tax Clinic and now all we need are the Volunteers to prepare the returns.  No experience is necessary, just a willingness to help others.  Revenue Canada will provide an on-line training program and an Income Tax software program, called U-File, which allows you to file the returns electronically, from your home.  The program is easy to follow, sequential, catches mistakes, and even offers suggestions.

For security reasons, Revenue Canada also expects all volunteers to pay for and include a Police check, when applying to the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
